Red Velvet - Irene & Seulgi (레드벨벳-아이린&슬기) is the first sub-unit of girl group Red Velvet. They unit was formed under SM Entertainment and they debuted on July 6, 2020 with their debut mini-album Monster. The unit consists of 2 members, Irene and Seulgi.
Irene & Seulgi were originally set to debut in June, put their debut was postponed due to the album needing more production and higher quality sound.
History[]
Debut with Monster[]
On May 27, 2020 at midnight KST a teaser for the upcoming unit was released. A logo was released along with the album name. 2 days later is was revealed their debut was delayed til July because the album needed additional production. On July 1, teaser photos were released in preparation for the album. On July 5, a teaser for the M/V was released along with the M/V being released on July 7.[1] On July 2, details were revealed, about how they would promote the title track "Monster" under content titled "Irene & Seulgi - The Stage".[2]
On July 16, at noon KST, a teaser for their follow up track "Naughty" was released. 4 days later the music video was released as well.[3] On Aug 12, it was also announced that Red Velvet — Irene & Seulgi would be putting on a performance for a TIME100 Talks event.[4]
